The second quickest way is to run out of carbs and the third is failing to get enough early nights. Sure if your following my advice and following a high carb low fat fruit focused vegan lifestyle then you will likely find it hard to get dehydrated due to the water contents of the fruit BUT you still CAN GET DEHYDRATED by failing to take in enough water. So to avoid dehydration, drink enough water so your urine is clear NOT yellow or straw. This is advice straight out of the pro peloton. Its the most important advice I can give you! Ive had one friend literally die from dehydration and a few others end up in hospital. Ive had others just fail big time by feeling worse than they can on a daily basis. They are affordable, strong, light enough, have great quality components, easy to fix wheels and have crash durability that more expensive light weight carbon road bicycles dont have. My tips are: Bike fit. Make sure you find a reputable shop to fit you right. White out pen. Get one and mark your seat post, bars, seat position and cleats so you have a reference point should anything slip. Mountain bike clipless shoes. Get these when you want to upgrade to clip in pedals systems. The shimano XTR pedal is super strong and durable. The cleats last many miles. Try on different brands of shoes and see what you find most comfortable. Specialized make great XC shoes as do Shimano and SIDI. Try before you buy! Drink bottle. Get a camelbak Podium. BPA free plastic. The best cycling drink bottle around IMHO. Here are some other cycling tips. Check em out. 1. Pump up your tyres to the recommended rating every few days. 2. Drink enough water so your urine is clear. If its yellow or straw, we need to drink more. Drink before meals instead of after for better digestion. 3.
