Cycling tips : What is the best pedal system to use? Shimano XTR?

Cycling tips: What is the best pedal system to use? Shimano XTR? Cycling tip for pedal systems? Personally I have riden literally 95% of the pedal systems out there and rate the 970-980 Shimano XTR pedal system as the BEST all rounder for weight, price and durability. Cleats last a lot of miles. Around 20 000miles for me and thats with lots of walking in supermarkets/race courses etc. Bearings are super durable and serviceable. Pedals are strong if you crash. Freelee uses the same pedal system as well. She finds it very convenient to use as a cyclist noob. Road shoes are great if you JUST race and never walk anywhere but for 99.9% of us they are goofy and over the top really. Hey, Ive had 800$ custom road shoes so can speak from experience. I wont ever use normal road shoes again as the ease of use with mountain bike cycling shoe is so good! Avoid buying shoes with laces as they can get caught in your chain. Buy an entry-race level xc shoe and try them on at the end of the day when your foot is the biggest. You want to have a bit of room to wiggle your toes as feet will expand on hot days/long rides. You can always do the straps tighter if need be. Specialized are a brand that make great fitting xc shoes as are Sidi and Shimano. Most cycling shoes are synthetic vs leather which makes sense for durability and karma. 2. The Hodgetwins don’t have a clue so he just exposes their commercial lies and the reason he’s slim is because all good endurance runner/cyclists are. No hate involved.

  3. everyone’s got their own definition of “healthy looking” bro.

  4. Annoyance is subjective; I don’t find Harley annoying in the slightest. I find your eye for an eye strategy to be pathetic. It’s easy to be direct instead of cowardly trying to put someone down based on your perception of their appearance or state of health. In any case, this is his house; you didn’t have to come here.

  5. He’s only annoying when he talks shit trying to get publicity. “It’s easy to be direct instead of cowardly trying to put someone down based on your perception of their appearance or state of health.” He implies the HodgeTwins are unhealthy and that it’s all “fake” muscle. It’s just his perception of their health and tries to put them down by talking shit. Therefore, he is a coward…

  6. I thought you said carbs make you fat though?

How come I eat UNLIMITED cals and train less than you but am leaner and about 5x fitter?

Something to think about boss. ;)

  7. I use em on my road bike cos I use my road bike for racing, training, shopping etc. Road shoes are just too goofy for me to walk around markets, shops, road rage incidents, fruit trees etc.

Speedplay are pretty good but the cleats don’t last that long and make it near impossible to walk properly. I will stick with my shimano xtr pedals for sure. ;)

If they are working for then thats great though.

  8. What are you talking about? I never said anything about carbs? I also get unlimited cals and no, you are NOT leaner than me. You are abnormally skinny. Man, I can assure you, you are not fitter than me, trust me. ;)

  9. You can cycle in normal sneakers for sure but you lose power when you have to climb, accelerate, push hard into the wind etc. Use a wide pedal and a racing flat if you don’t want to run proper cycling shoes and pedals just yet.

  10. “Therefore, he is a coward”. And? Now what? Thanks for sharing I guess….

Back in reality, Harley has inspired thousands to find the truth about nutrition. You came here, by your own admittance, to execute an eye for an eye strategy; to annoy him by being pathetic. I feel like you’re trying the same strategy on me XD

    Peace.

  12. This will be my last reply to you; I don’t like to repeat myself.

The perception of being pathetic lies inside your head; it’s not an attribute of Harley. I think you should revise your strategy because I doubt you will achieve your goals doing what you’re doing here. :)

  13. Nor is it about the twins, it all lies inside his head.

  14. I’ve been loyal to Wellgo platforms for a while. With these I can use ANY shoe, and they’re a little more forgiving on the shins than rat traps. Mind you, I don’t ride competitively.

BTW, stop shitting on Harley, and listen. You might learn something. The Hodge Twins are eating a lot more fruit since watching his vids.

  21. lol you have some real jerk opinions about people you don’t even know. Oh ya and its called being in character moron. Some people like to be big. some like to be strong. some like to have endurance. and some like to be the complete athlete. Don’t have to be an ass to people who do things different. Do you really think they are that big because of creatine? And if you gave them a chance you might see they are some funny guys.

  22. Yeah man sure but I meant can you modify normal sneakers to have a mid food cleat, as yours sort of looked like old school nikes or something…..?
