  1. Good stuff, HammerGel on the web has a ton of good of good info too. The Protein/Carbo is around 20-25% Protein — never woulda thought. LIQUID protein will save the bod on digestion which is tiring for the body.

  2. Well, if you have a race about 3 to 4 hours, you cannot ride that without any extra nutrition and if you eat before the race, you have it in your stomach and it’s getting digested while you go. If you eat a powerbar after 2 hours, you are basically just going to speed up recovery, not get any energy for the race. Sure, you got to have eaten way before that so your energy lever is full. I would not eat lot of protein before the race or excersice. That’s a bad idea.

  3. I’m a bike courier and some days I wake up hung over and without food until 4:00. Ride between 40 – 100km per day. the latter is constant sprinting.

  4. I like this video because he states it plain and simple. It’s important to keep up with your consumption of Carbs and protein! I also like his tip for trail mix pick, something with a combination of dried fruit, grains and nuts.TIP of the day comes from this video: Drink before you get thirsty!! We can get dehydrated pretty quick if we aren’t keeping up with it.

  7. lol this guy has no idea. the body stores plenty of carbs as glycogen in the muscle. plus you hardly use protein as a fuel unless it gets converted to carbs through gluconeogenesis, the body uses a quarter from 1% (thats 0.025) from protein from total calories consumed as fuel. protein is a last resort fuel, the body will use fat first then protein. no need for useless protein shakes or supplements

  8. Protein = carbs ??
what about fat?? much of a cyclists energy expecially in easy/steady training or parts of a long race will come from stored fat. However I agree, protein is very important but after one hour all carbs will not be totally gone unless the hour is of high intensity.
